A digital product passport is an individual tool and information system connected to a data carrier, like a QR code, attached to the product, containing product-specific data, including information on the manufacturing process throughout a product’s supply chain and environmental impact that is accessible and reliable for all stakeholders.
The DPP aims to increase transparency, traceability and consistency in each part of a product’s value chain. This includes knowing the recyclability of the product and how to recycle it, made available for both consumers and recyclers.
The DPP is governed by the Eco-Design for Sustainable Products Regulation.
There are two important sets of data to be considered in the DPP. First is a product’s material and traceability data, including material content, origin of materials, resources used and more. Second is a product’s performance data, such as rental frequency, consumer preferences, product use, product damages, and more, to collect once the product has already been put on the market
MĀDI can be your digital product passport provider, working with transparency partners such as BCome to ensure product’s material and traceability information is included. We work to get product performance data and makes recyclability information clear and collection accessible for consumers with our digital IDs.With our digital IDs, communication to consumers on DPP requirements is easy, while also helping ensure products are sent to recyclers to support a circular system.
